Ukrainian army resumes laying mines near contact line with Lugansk People’s Republic

17.08.2019, Lugansk.

Ukrainian army sappers resumed chaotic mining of territories near the contact line, the spokesman of the People’s Militia of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) Yakov Osadchiy said, RT reports on August 16.

According to Osadchiy, while the LPR People’s Militia is demining the area near the town of Luganskaya, the Ukrainian army is laying mines in the territories near the towns of Schastye and Zolotoye.

The worst thing, Osadchiy believes, is that the minefields are not marked on any maps, and they are not even marked with mine danger signs. As a result, Ukrainian army servicemen are themselves often killed by the mines.

According to the LPR People’s Militia officials, the Ukrainian army is drawing heavy equipment to the contact line, in violation of the Minsk agreements. According to the intelligence, 19 T-72 tanks and seven 2S9 Nona vehicle-mounted mortars have arrived near the village of Rubezhnoe. Two 152-mm 2S3 Akatsiya self-propelled howitzers are located near the town of Druzhba.

The People’s Militia officials stress that OSCE reports violations of the agreements of heavy weapons separation by the Ukrainian side.
