Maduro prepared to prove Bolton’s involvement in attempt on his life

Evidence suggesting that US National Security Advisor John Bolton personally commanded an assassination attempt targeting the President of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro one year ago is available to the Venezuelan leader, Nicolás Maduro said on August 6 in an interview to journalist Max Blumenthal published on The Grayzone website.

“Now, a year ago, […] there was the attempt. I can tell you that today I have proof that the assassination attempt was ordered by John Bolton in the White House,” the leader of the Bolivarian Republic said.

He also added that John Bolton was acting “in coordination with then Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos,” “they gave the task to Julio Borges,” a Venezuelan opposition leader. According to Maduro, the collected evidence is sufficient for a serious investigation against Bolton. Meanwhile, there is not enough evidence to accuse President Donald Trump.

An assassination attempt against Nicolás Maduro took place on August 4, 2018, during a military parade in Caracas. Several drones loaded with explosives detonated over the square, injuring seven military servicemen. The president was not hurt.

The renowned US antiwar publicist Max Blumenthal founded The Grayzone in 2015, promoting his project as an independent journalist initiative which is not funded by any government.

In 2019, the presentation of his book The Management of Savagery: How America’s National Security State Fueled the Rise of Al Qaeda [organization banned in Russia], ISIS [organization banned in Russia], and Donald Trump was postponed because it had to undergo censorship.
