Media: Ukrainian Air Force planes shot down in Lybia were transporting arms

Two Ukrainian IL-76 military transport airplanes shot down by missiles in Libya were transporting weapons from the United Arab Emirates, the Ukrainian newspaper “Zerkalo nedeli” reports on July 28.

It has been reported that both IL-76 were transporting arms intended for one of the parties to the Libyan conflict. All of the crew members had Ukrainian citizenship. According to the newspaper, the arms were delivered by a private Ukrainian company.

On July 27 the Government of National Accord forces in Libya carried out a missile strike on the Al Jufra airport, which is controlled by Khalifa Haftar’s Libyan National Army. As a result of this attack, an IL-76 was destroyed. According to the site avia.pro, two Ukrainian transport aircraft could have been destroyed.
