Poland fails to deny Putin invitation to Auschwitz liberation anniversary

27.07.2019, Warsaw.

Russian leader Vladimir Putin will be invited to participate in the commemorative events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz Nazi concentration camp, the Press Secretary of the Polish president Błażej Spychalski said, the Wpolityce news agency reports.

According to the Polish leader’s press secretary, this invitation means that Vladimir Putin will attend the ceremony to take place in the beginning of 2020.

“The liberation of the camp by the Soviet army is a historical fact, which cannot be denied, and in this case we are completely open for cooperation,” Spychalski stressed.

On July 18 it became known that the Polish authorities did not invite the President of Russia Vladimir Putin to participate in the ceremonies on the anniversary of the beginning of World War Two, because the USSR allegedly violated international law in 1939 by splitting Poland’s territory with Germany.
