In order to normalize the situation in Syria it is necessary to eliminate the remaining terrorists, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on June 28 during a meeting of the BRICS member states, TV-channel “Zvezda” reports.
The Russian President said that Russia has helped the Syrian people in their fight against the terrorists, having saved the region from an even bloodier conflict. To bring peace in Syria it is necessary to eliminate remaining the hotbeds of tension.
Putin stressed the necessity of continuing to support Syria with humanitarian aid and helping the country to restore its economy and infrastructure. Together with this, it is necessary to create conditions for the return of refugees.
Putin called upon the BRICS countries to participate more actively in the reconstruction of Syria and in the fight against international terrorism.
Since 2015, Russia has been combating terrorist groups in Syria at the request of the Syrian government. It has helped to save the Syrian state and to liberate almost all the country’s territory from the terrorists.
