Syria takes back refugees and restores normal life

The Russian Center for the Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria that monitors refugee movement reports a mass return of refugees in its newsletter on the official website of the Russian Defense Ministry on May 10.

Over the past day, 1081 refugees have returned to the republic. People return to Syria through checkpoints on the borders with Lebanon and Jordan. 218,965 people returned to Syria from these countries since July 18, 2018, .

According to the UN data on refugees, which is also used by the Center for Reconciliation, more than 6.6 million Syrian refugees are officially registered in 45 countries. 448,245 people have returned to Syria from foreign countries since September 30, 2015.

In addition to the issue of refugees, the newsletter provides information on the reconstruction of buildings and infrastructure in the Syrian Arab Republic. Over a thousand medical and educational institutions have been restored, along with bridges, highways, power lines, and other industrial facilities which have been commissioned since July 18, 2018.

Currently, Syria is working on restoring and repairing 2,430 residential buildings, 218 schools, 170 preschool institutions, 204 medical institutions, 200 bakeries, 205 electrical substations, 248 water-pumping stations and 93 religious buildings.

The authorities began restoring the country and bringing it back to life in different ways after the large-scale war against terrorists ended. Russia provides military assistance to Syria, as well as organized humanitarian assistance.

At the same time, such countries as the US, France, Germany, and the UK, which have long been unsuccessfully engaged in the fight against international terrorism in the republic refuse to take part in restoring the damaged country.
