Gaza Strip: 41 Palestinians killed in clashes

41 Palestinians were killed in clashes with Israeli soldiers at the Gaza Strip border, informed Ashraf al-Kidra, Gaza Health Ministry spokesman, on May 14, RIA Novosti reports.

“The number of killed Palestinians has increased to 41,” said Al-Kidra.

Israeli forces opened lethal fire on aggressive participants of one of many protests, which has dramatically increased in number in the wake opening of the US embassy in Israel.

According to the Israeli military, more than 35,000 citizens are involved in the unrest on 12 border sectors. The protesters burn tires, throw Molotov cocktails, and improvised explosive devices (IED’s), try to break the border barriers.

The opening ceremony of the new US Embassy in Israel is taking place on May 14. Recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and transferring of the US Embassy from Tel-Aviv was announced by the US President Donald Trump last year in December. This decision of the US Government caused protests and riots among Palestinians and in many countries of the Arab world. The embassy transfer was timed with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Israel.
