Yury Byaly: Medvedev is not forgiven for “bouncing back" to Putin

31.01.2018, Moscow.

Yury Byaly, the Vice-President of the Experimental Creative Center Foundation in an interview to a Rossa Primavera News Agency correspondent on January 30, 2018 named the reason why the US Treasury included Dmitry Medvedev, the Russian Prime Minister, into the Kremlin Report.

“I think that our liberals and their like-minded US partners who were making a bet on Medvedev since 2007 cannot forgive him for “bouncing back” to Putin,” said Byaly.

Mass media outlets noted that Elvira Nabiullina, the head of the Central Bank of Russia, and Anatoly Chubais, the head of ROSNANO were not included in the Kremlin Report while it listed the head of the Russian government, along with the heads of all ministries and key law enforcement agencies.

In 2011, protests which followed the Russian State Duma election during the Dmitry Medvedev’s presidency resulted in Sergei Udaltsov, one of the non-systemic opposition leaders, proposing an extension of Medvedev’s presidential powers for a year and a postponement of the presidential election. This attempt was made to prevent Vladimir Putin from assuming the presidential post in the 2012 elections.
