The US-led coalition acknowledges 61 civilian deaths in Syria and Iraq

The US-led forces confirmed another 61 civilian deaths as a result of its air strikes in Iraq and Syria, Reuters reports on September 1.

The statement says that the incident which took lives of 27 civilians was the coalition’s airstrike against ISIL (organization banned in Russia) positions near the Iraqi city of Mosul on March 14, 2017.

At the moment, the coalition is investigating another 455 reports of civilian deaths in Syria and Iraq.

Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR) for the military intervention against ISIL (organization banned in Russia) has begun on August 8, 2014 and has covered both territories of Syria and Iraq. The international coalition, led by the United States, includes more than 11 states. The coalition officially acknowledged killing of 685 civilians caused by its air and artillery strikes in Iraq and Syria, since the beginning of the conflict.
