Syrian opposition: US sold weapons to terrorists by proxy

31.08.2017, Syria.

Militants trained by instructors at the US’ At Tanf base resold weapons to terrorists groups, former Security Director of the Syrian sector of the base, Muhammad Assalam, said on August 31, RIA Novosti reports.

All the weapons reselling activities were undercover. Weapons were received by ISIL (organization banned in Russia) militants.

“When we found that out, we informed the Americans. But in response, they only strengthened their support for our commander, whom they had assigned (the leader of the Mahavir as-Saura group, Mugannat Attal). They sold US-made weapons, heavy rocket launchers, vehicles, and a lot of M-16 rifles, 4.7 thousand of which were missing after the latest inspection by the Americans,” Muhammad Assalam said.

According to the RIA Novosti source,  the Syrians at the At Tanf base are ready to fight against either ISIL (organization banned in Russia), or against the Syrian army, as Mugannat Attal’s people do, for example.

“They [the American instructors ― Rossa Primavera Information Agency] asked Syrians to fight against the Syrian army, but decent people refused saying that our group was formed to fight against ISIL [organization banned in Russia ― Rossa Primavera Information Agency] but not against the army. Therefore, part of the group, those who originated from Deir ez-Zor, were sent to the Shaddadi base to fight against ISIL [organization banned in Russia ― Rossa Primavera Information Agency] and then, probably, to fight against the government forces,” Assalam explained.

Muhammad Assalam also said that the US military absolutely does not care about civilians despite the fact that a refugee camp is within 20 km the At Tanf base. The camp is virtually abandoned; it receives no medical or humanitarian aid, and it has no protection, Assalam said.

Also, 101 people left the At Tanf base and went to the territory under Syrian army control; they included 41 militants, 19 women, and 41 children. The group was moved to the Hardjella refugee camp near Damascus.

Even Western media occasionally leaks information about US support to terrorist organizations. For example, according to media publications, the core of the Islamic State (organization banned in Russia) was trained at Camp Bucca under the supervision of American instructors. Virtually all the top leadership of this terrorist organization was brought to Camp Bucca in 2004 at the height of a rebellion against the US-led coalition forces during the war in Iraq. The site itself was opened near the Iraq-Kuwait border in the spring of 2003.
