The elite of Donbass showed cowardice and refused to act that is why ordinary people took power, and they [ordinary people] are doing what they can; political scientist, Essence of Time movement leader Sergey Kurginyan stated during the show “Evening with Vladimir Solovyov” on Russian Channel One on March 1st.
During the show, Sergey Kurginyan noted that when the relevant elite refuse to act instead of joining the people, ordinary people take their place. “Akhmetov should have been on the side of his rebellious people, of his miners, on the forefront. If [he] had been on the forefront, he would have his business and everything afterward. But at that moment, he tried to sit on two chairs,“ the political scientist said.
Sergey Kurginyan noted that this is the mechanism by which revolutionary leaders emerge. During the French Revolution, the unimportant people took the lead, “Ney was the son of a barrel-cooper; Murat was altogether unknown.”
“Zakharchenko was nothing comparing to [the President of Ukraine Viktor] Yanukovich. In this lies the revolutionary situation,” the political scientist noted. “This is the mechanism by which revolutionary leaders emerge. How did this mechanism develop? It became possible because the relevant elite acted like cowards and refused to act, started crying and whining. And then the ordinary people came. They took power. They are not perfect; they are not absolute, they do what they can. But they do it, and this is what happened in all of the flashpoints.”
“In all of the flashpoints, the people take power because those who were supposed to be on their side, showed cowardice and refused to act. Once they [the elite] refused to act, they dug themselves a grave of economic collapse. This has always been the case in history. And it will be so, because this is the truth of history,” Kurginyan is sure.
In May, 2014, Ukrainian oligarch Rinat Akhmetov took the side of Kiev junta by calling the DPR representatives “villains” and “liars”.
