Ivan Andreevich Balakai, call sign ‘Greek’, was the Commander of the 11th Infantry Battalion, formerly known as “Vostok” brigade. He was killed near Avdeevka on 29, January, when Ukrainian nazis attacked the infantry positions, which were defending the town of Yasinovataya.
We will sorely miss our comrade. He was a great man, a great Commander, and a true friend. This world is much poorer without him.
Eternal memory to the hero! We shall not dishonor you!
