First female string quartet of Donetsk Philharmonic Hall

13.10.2016, DPR.

A female string quartet was created in Donetsk State Philharmonic Hall for the first time, the director of the Hall Aleksandr Paretsky said to a Donetsk News Agency reporter on October 12th.

String quarters are highly in demand today. Therefore, we decided to create another one, this time – solely female. We have offered our audience to choose a name for the quartet. Based on the results of the voting, it is going to be called “Diva-Quartet”. This is the first female string quarter in the history of our Hall,” Paretsky said.

He specified that the violist Oksana Sarycheva became director of the quartet. Olga Kolomiets (violin), Maria Bakhtiozina (violin), and Vasilina Kaznadzey (cello) joined the new quarter. “Diva-Quartet” will perform both classical musical compositions and modern melodies adapted for string instruments.

Their repertoire is quite modern and diverse,” the director of the Hall said.

The first significant performance of “Diva-Quartet” is expected to take place in November 2016 in the small hall of Donetsk Philharmonic Hall or in the art museum. As of now, the quartet has already performed several times in the foyer of the Hall before the concerts.
