Over 2000 refugees from territory occupied by Ukrainian army will celebrate Victory Day in DPR

More than two thousand internally displaced persons from Donbass territories temporarily occupied by Kiev junta will celebrate Victory Day in temporary accommodation centers of Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), the press service of the Office of DPR Ombudswoman informed Donetsk News Agency.

According to our information, as of May 1st, 2016, 2200 people, who have come to us to escape the temporary occupation by the Ukrainian army, live in the territory of Republic. They will celebrate the Victory Day in safe temporary accommodation centers,” the Ombudswoman’s Office reported.

In total, there are 86 temporary accommodation centers in the DPR territory, of which 60 are functioning, and another 26 are on standby. The Ombudswoman’s Office noted that the internally displaced persons not only from the occupied territory but also from the so-called ‘buffer zone’ near the contact line, a total of 2788 people according to the latest information, are residing in the temporary accommodation centers.

Moreover, around 8000 residents of DPR moved from the shelled areas to the more peaceful ones,” the Ombudswoman’s Office added.

DPR Ombudswoman Daria Morozova stated that more than 4000 people including women, senior citizens, and children were killed during the two years of Kiev junta’s punitive actions against the residents of the Republic. Around 11000 objects of infrastructure were destroyed. According to the Ombudswoman, about one thousand people including soldiers of DPR Armed Forces, political prisoners, and civilians not related to the war are now detained by the Ukrainian junta. Around 500 people are reported missing.
