Head of DPR: Forgiving those responsible for murdering police officers on “maidan” turned Ukraine into a criminal state

27.02.2016, DPR.

The fact that the shooting of law enforcement officers on “maidan” in February 2014 goes unpunished has turned Ukraine into a criminal state, the Head of Donetsk People’s Republic Aleksandr Zakharchenko said to reporters yesterday.

If a militant from “maidan” tells to the whole country how he killed the “Berkut” and Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine police officers, and he is not executed and not imprisoned in Ukraine, then which of us is a criminal state? He was not even prosecuted. It turns out that all the criminals were amnestied there (in Ukraine − Editor)“, he said.

The documentary “Branzi” (English: “Captives”) was released on February 25 in Ukraine. The film contains an interview with the participant of “euromaidan” Ivan Bubenchik, in which he admits that he was the first one who opened fire on the officers of special forces “Berkut” in Kiev on February 20th, 2014. As Ivan Bubenchik himself said to the authors of the movie, the “Berkut” officers were the first who were killed in the morning on February 20th, not the defenders of “maidan”. He shot at least two officers to the back of their heads and additionally wounded several police officers in the leg.

The Head of the Department of Special Investigations of the General Prosecutor of Ukraine Sergey Gorbatyuk stated that the confession to the murders of the police forces officers cannot be a reason for the arrest, and the confessors themselves refuse to appear for questioning as witnesses.

According to the decision of the Verkhovnaya Rada of Ukraine (Ukrainian Parliament), the amnesty is granted to all persons involved in any crimes against law enforcement officials (on “maidan”)”, – explained Gorbatyuk. “Cases against them should be closed. They cannot be arrested, and they cannot be charged.
