Deputy of the House of Representatives of Belarus states that the West intends to destabilize post-Soviet countries

The West will continue its attempts to destabilize the situation in post-Soviet countries, said Deputy of the House of Representatives of Belarus, Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party Oleg Gaydukevich in his commentary to BelTA on March 12.

“The whole policy of the West in the post-Soviet space since the collapse of the USSR has been the same – to destabilize the situation and create anti-Russian centers. The standard of living and peace of citizens have never been of interest to the West,” said Gaydukevich.

He noted that what is happening in Ukraine has affected and will continue to affect the whole world. “We want the situation in the post-Soviet republics to be calm. And there will be attempts to destabilize the situation there, too, in the near future. Right now we need to stick together. All post-Soviet republics must understand that we are the only ones interested in peace. We are neighbors. We all want to live in peace,” the parliamentarian said.

He also noted the need to strengthen humanitarian, economic and political contacts in the post-Soviet space.

“In no case, we must not allow destabilization of the situation in these republics. Because these are all links in one chain. Of course, the West would like to create a belt of instability around Russia,” Gaydukevich added.

As an example, he cited the situation with the recent events in Kazakhstan. According to him, no one in the West thought about the Kazakh people. “Someone wanted the situation in [Kazakhastan] to escalate and would be tense for 10 years, to have such an instability zone on the border with Russia and China. We all see it and understand it. We will make peacekeeping efforts so that this would never happen,” the MP added.
