A video commemorating the fallen comrades from the Essence of Time unit in Donbass was published on January 17 on the movement’s YouTube channel.
Seven years ago, on January 17, 2015, the Essence of Time unit, which was on combat duty at the position Monastyr near Donetsk airport, took part in an hours-long battle. The position held by the detachment was a key one at the outskirts of Donetsk. Had it been taken, the Ukrainian troops would have had a direct route to Donetsk.
However, this did not happen. The position was held at the cost of the lives of the unit’s soldiers: Igor Yudin (call sign “Bolgarin”), Yevgeny Belyaev (call sign “Belka”), and Yevgeny Krasnoshein (call sign “Pyatnitsa”). They died with weapons in their hands, defending the people of Donbass from the reprisals of the neo-Nazi regime.
The unit withstood heavy artillery fire in a half-destroyed three-story building that belonged to a monastery. Due to the high density of fire, the soldiers of the Essence of Time unit could not be helped, and their comrades could not get close to the place of their fight.
Commander of the separate tactical group Essence of Time Volga recalls the fallen comrades and how Donetsk has changed since those very disturbing times, thanks to the fact that it was defended in 2015.
