Zelensky asks Verkhovna Rada to admit foreign troops to Ukraine for exercises

16.12.2020, Kiev.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky submitted the draft law on the admission of foreign troops to Ukraine for exercises in 2021 to parliament, as the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament – translator note) official website informed on December 16.

The document suggests holding joint exercises with NATO member states: the US-Ukrainian Rapid Trident-2021, Sea Breeze-2021, the Ukrainian-Romanian Riverine-2021, the Ukrainian-Polish Three Swords 2021 and the Ukrainian-British Warrior Watcher-2021.

Ukrainian laws prohibit the presence and operation of military units and bases of foreign states not stipulated by the law.

The presence of foreign contingent is possible only after the Verkhovna Rada approves a special law submitted by the president.
