The Ukrainian military violated the additional conditions of observation of ceasefire five times over a day on the contact line in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), a DPR representative at the Joint Centre for Ceasefire Control and Coordination (JCCC) said on August 13.

The report reads that on August 12, the observers registered twice the expansion and strengthening of the Ukrainian troops’ positions on the contact line near the village of Shumy.

In the area of Novoluganskoye and Novotroitskoye villages, the Ukrainian military blew up the engineer ammunition to carry out the engineering works in order to build new positions on the contact line.

They also spotted a reconnaissance drone flying for 26 minutes near the village of Shumy. The drone flew over the territory controlled by the Ukrainian troops without crossing the contact line.

On August 11, the JCCC observers registered two violations of the ceasefire on the part the Ukrainian army’s units, the enemy fired three AGS-17 grenades. Also, four cases of conducting the engineering works to construct new positions were detected.

On July 22, 2020, at a meeting of the trilateral contact group in Minsk, the Ukrainian side signed a document committing itself to comply with additional measures to observe the ceasefire regime, including seven conditions.

The additional conditions prohibit flights of aviation and unmanned aerial vehicles, prohibit the change of the position of troops, construction of new positions and expansion of the old ones. It is also prohibited to open fire without a formal order.

Ukraine has committed itself to implement additional measures and to punish its soldiers for violating the additional conditions. In reality, the observers of the republic in the JCCC do not report on full compliance of the Ukrainian side with the signed conditions.

On August 12, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lugansk People’s Republic sent notes to the leadership of the OSCE mission and representatives of guarantor countries. The ministers called to influence Ukraine and to force it to abandon the provocations.
