DPR People’s Militia: Ukrainian militants laying mines on avenues of approach to Donbass

13.07.2020, Donetsk.

According the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) observers, Ukrainian militants are laying mines near the towns and villages of Donbass, a spokesman of the People’s Militia of the DPR reported to journalists on July 13.

According to the official, the Republic’s observers reported the installation of “a mine barrage, including POM-2 anti-personnel mines, at the southern outskirts of Novoluganskoye” by a forward engineer support team of the 2nd Battalion of the 24th Brigade of the Ukrainian army.

He also reported that the militants installed an additional checkpoint at the exit from the settlement, and they blocked  the road with spikes.

The DPR spokesman noted that by this fact Ukraine deliberately violates the norms of the international law, and it attempts to hide its crimes “from the OSCE mission observers and from the public.”

“The militants currently continue laying mines five kilometers to southwest from Novoluganskoye,” the official concluded.

The confrontation between the militia and the Ukrainian militants began in the spring of 2014 after a nationwide referendum proclaiming independence from Kiev because of the coup d’etat in Ukraine.
