On December 4, the leaders of three Ukrainian parties called the Ukrainians and civil society organizations to join a rally to take place at the Maidan of Independence on December 8. According to the signatories, “before the coming Normandy Four meeting, we must remind the authorities about the ‘red lines’, the demands of the Ukrainian people that the authorities cannot ignore.”

The “red lines” include a European and Euro-Atlantic policy for the country, the need “to de-occupy and return” Crimea, elections on the uncontrolled territories in Donbass before “the fulfillment of the conditions of security and de-occupation,” further international legal proceedings against Russia, etc.

“We call all Ukrainians, all the state political forces, civic organizations to come to the Maidan of Independence [Independence Square] on December 8 at 1 pm in order to demonstrate our unity and commitment to struggle for Ukraine,” the address says.

The Normandy Four summit will take place on December 9 in Paris. The purpose of the summit is to develop a new procedure of the implementation of the Minsk agreements.

The Normandy Four includes Russia, Ukraine, Germany, and France. The previous summit took place in October 2016 in Berlin.
