Members of a water polo team from California celebrated their award with a Nazi salute and a Wehrmacht army song, The Daily Beast reported on August 20.

The video materials that journalists found on social media of students of Pacifica High School in Garden Grove, California show the ceremony participants singing a Wehrmacht army song while raising their arms in a Nazi salute.

According to the newspaper, a member of the water polo team posted the video on Instagram in late 2018. According to the school officials, they were unaware of their students’ attitudes.

In March 2019, a number of high school students in the Orange County in Southern California were suspended from classes after some photos were circulated in social media showing them with a Nazi salute in front of a swastika.

After the scandal ignited, the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust invited the students who were so enthralled with Nazism to visit the Museum and to meet Holocaust survivors.

Editorial comment

In the USA, the ideas of white supremacy have always been popular among the supporters of white racial purity, who disagree with the black population having the same rights as whites.

The Ku Klux Klan, a far-right organization that was widespread in the 19th and the 20th centuries, should come to memory.

However, the revival and promotion of Adolf Hitler’s Nazi ideas can be observed today with the unaided eye among young people in almost all Western countries.

To a large extent, this is due to the failure of the ideas of liberalism and multiculturalism, as well as the migration crisis that struck Europe after the West incited a series of wars in the Middle East.
