Residents from city in Syrian province of Aleppo drive out Turkish invaders

Local residents managed to overthrow the head of the municipal council of the Turkish-controlled city of Suran, a Rossa Primavera News Agency source in Syria reported on May 24.

The citizens managed to achieve the resignation of the head of the local council, Ali Tamer Al-Sheikh, after more than two months of peaceful demonstrations and strikes. The protesters accused the city authorities of unprecedented corruption in a number of industries.

The city of Suran in northern Aleppo near the city of Azaz, is located 10 kilometers away from the Syrian-Turkish border.

Turkish armed forces started military activity in Syria in August 2016 with “Operation Euphrates Shield”. The purpose of the operation was to fight terrorist organizations in northern Syria. Despite the declaration of its success, the Turkish military has not been withdrawn from the territory of this Arab country to this day.
