On February 1, Sergey Kurginyan, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, spoke about the necessity of moving the country to a state of strategic autonomy on the Time will Show TV program on Channel One.
In his speech, Sergey Kurginyan criticized the position of the Russian elites, who in response to the strategic confrontation declared by the West, are trying to adapt to the situation, to manoeuver in the situation of constantly increasing Western pressure. “I believe that the declared course to the strategic confrontation, first of all, due to the bill on counteractions, which the majority of congressmen and senators has adopted, has set a new format. They do not want this adaptation,” the political scientist said.
Sergey Kurginyan called to start acting in an autonomous regime as soon as possible and to transfer the country into a new existence, “The alternative is to declare that the era of adaptation has ended, and the era of strategic autonomy has begun. <..> … we have to admit that one era has ended and the other has started. We have spent a long delaying the moment of entering the new era. But the earlier we begin, and the smoother we will enter the era, the better its result will be for us.”
The TV program discussed the situation around the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) lifting life bans for 28 Russian athletes participating in the Olympic games.
