First Russian TV channel is to be launched in China

The first Russian TV channel in China will soon be launched. An agreement about its launch has been signed between Russia’s Channel One and the Central Television of China on June 4, the TASS news agency reports.

The document was signed by the Director General of Channel One, Konstantin Ernst and the Director General of CTV-Satellite TV Program Co., Ltd Du Hao.

The TV channel has been named “Katusha”. The broadcasting will be in Russian with Chinese subtitles. The channel is to be launched in 2017.

“’Katusha’ will allow the Chinese audience to see the best cultural, informative, and educational TV shows made in Russia, and to gain insight into Russian culture, art, science, history, and cinema,” Ernst said at the Third Russia-China Media Forum.

Today, the Third Russia-China Media Forum is being held in Moscow. It is attended by over 120 heads of major media of the two countries. They are discussing media development, co-operation issues and various joint projects.
