Two large industrial plants of the “Metinvest” group, owned by Rinat Akhmetov, were forced to stop production, because they are unable to receive raw materials and to ship their end product, the group’s press service wrote in a press release issued on February 20th, as Regnum Information Agency informed.
“Krasnodonugol” plant (specializing in coking coal production) and Yenakievo Iron and Steel Works are among the factories, which have stopped operating. Both plants are registered in Kiev, and they pay taxes into the Ukrainian budget.
The enterprises’ management assured that the employees were put on paid leave at two-thirds remuneration, and they would not be laid off.
Recall that, in January, Ukrainian radicals began a blockade of Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. At the moment, 3 main railway branches connecting Donbass with Ukraine are blocked.
