The Syrian army regained control over the villages Rasm an Nafl and Shalala al-Kabira, 18 soldiers were killed during fierce fighting, dozens of militants were eliminated, the source in the Syrian people’s militia told to RIA Novosti.
“Army liberated Rasm an Nafl and Shalala al-Kabira. The terrorists were able to attack the road Hanaser – Aleppo at any time when they were there. Fierce combat is underway for Khanasir itself, 18 soldiers were killed. Several dozens of terrorists are eliminated, several enemy vehicles destroyed“, the source told to the agency.
According to the source, the terrorists captured Khanasir on Tuesday and try to entrench there. The army and the militia units continue to fight terrorists. The only route is still blocked at the moment.
On Wednesday terrorists attempted to break through to the command position of the Syrian army on the road near Khanasir on three mined vehicles. The military managed to preliminary identify and destroy the vehicles.
The Ithriya-Khanasir-Aleppo bypass road is the only way to supply the Syrian troops in Aleppo, and the “lifeline” road by which food, fuel and other necessities are delivered to the city.
According to the Syrian military, by cutting off the supply route of Aleppo the terrorists hoped to slow down the full-scale offensive of the Syrian army in the north of Aleppo province and in the west of the Raqqa province.
