Kurginyan: The West talks about the “Russian threat” because it actually wants war

The Western elites talk about the “Russian threat” not because they truly believe in it, but because they themselves want war, political scientist, philosopher, and the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan stated on October 10 on the Right to Know program on the TVC channel.

The host Dmitry Kulikov asked Kurginyan whether the West has indeed set a course toward expanding military conflicts as a means to resolve contradictions that it cannot settle through other means.

In response, Kurginyan noted that the West is perfectly well aware of who Russian President Vladimir Putin is.

“They understand that he is a very moderate, cautious man, that he has no desire to annex Belgium, for instance, even though Belgium keeps claiming it is in ‘accute danger.’ The situation reaches the point of absurdity, if it weren’t so tragic. Right? They know all this,” he said.

At the same time, the political scientist pointed to the West’s attitude toward Ukraine, emphasizing that that the West “couldn’t care less about Ukraine’s future as a country.” Yet, Western elites devote enormous attention to it and pour vast sums of money into it, even as they face major economic problems in their states.

“They wouldn’t waste a single penny. Until recently, their primary concerns were always things like whether to slightly raise or lower taxes, or how to adjust social benefits. Now, all of that has been put aside. It’s all about the arms race, which is very real; they are genuinely ramping up all these indicators,” the leader of the Essence of Time movement stressed.

Kurginyan also pointed to the military re-equipment currently underway in the West. Specifically, he pointed to the ramped-up production of F-35 fighter jets. According to him, a similar buildup is taking place with other military hardware, “as if they are preparing for something.”

“They are feverishly preparing bombs, so-called tactical nuclear weapons, each with the yield of two or three Hiroshimas; they aren’t all that large, but if you have a couple of thousand of them, that’s a serious matter. Flight times are shrinking, and, in a sense, hostilities are unfolding all across the globe,” the political analyst elaborated.

He noted that the issue is not that the West perceives Putin as a leader who intends to conquer the entire world. In reality, they understand perfectly well that Putin is a Westernizer who is “bringing order to the legacy he inherited from Yeltsin, refining it a bit and so on, but he has no intention of launching any sweeping, aggressive expansions.” Nevertheless, the West continues to insist on a supposed threat from Russia, which implies that the Western elited, in fact, want war.

“When they claim, ‘We are merely responding to the Russian threat,’ it’s laughable. It is they who want war, and they are taking very systematic, powerful steps toward it,” Kurginyan explained.
