Relations between Russia and the United States are at their lowest point in decades, and the risk of a direct confrontation between the two powers should not be underestimated, stated Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov in an interview published on October 22 with the Serbian newspaper Politika.
“We are indeed at the lowest point in many decades, and the risk of a direct confrontation between Russia and the USA cannot be underestimated,” he emphasized.
Ryabkov noted that the USA continues to test Russia’s patience on various issues. He pointed out that Russia remains patient and highlighted that Moscow does not draw any red lines, knowing that its adversaries speculate on the very concept of such lines.
Russia’s adversaries instigate each other to please Kiev and drag NATO into a direct conflict, Ryabkov remarked, calling this situation extremely dangerous.
The current state of affairs has led Russia to change its nuclear doctrine.
