The South Korean government is considering dispatching military specialists to Ukraine in response to reports suggesting that North Korea has sent troops to aid Russia. A representative of South Korean intelligence stated this, as reported by NewsPim on October 22, without revealing the name of the official.
“We are considering the possibility of sending an appropriate number of personnel, including experts in North Korean intelligence and enemy tactics,” the publication quoted the source as saying.
South Korean experts could provide the Kiev regime with information on the psychology and morale of North Korean soldiers and collect new intelligence. They could also act as translators if North Korean soldiers are captured by Ukrainian militants or decide to desert. The decision to send specialists might not be publicly announced. On October 18, South Korea’s National Intelligence Service stated that North Korea plans to send 12,000 troops to Russia, with 1,500 already in the Russian Far East undergoing training.
The head of the Kiev regime Vladimir Zelensky claimed that North Korea is preparing to send 10,000 troops to participate in the conflict with Ukraine. Following this, concerns began to be expressed in Seoul. On October 21, the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Russian ambassador Georgy Zinoviev. The foreign ministry expressed that they view the military cooperation between Russia and North Korea as a threat to global security.
However, both US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte have stated that there is no data confirming the participation of North Korean military in the conflict in Ukraine. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin, when asked about the acceptability of North Korean troops participating in Russia’s special military operation, said that Russia had not asked anyone for this and that there was no need for it.
