NATO Commander warns of strengthened Russian Armed Forces after conflict in Ukraine is over

20.10.2024, Berlin.

The Russian army will become stronger after the conflict with Ukraine, stated NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General Christopher Cavoli, in an interview with the German publication Der Spiegel on October 20.

Cavoli believes that the Russian army will strengthen regardless of the conflict’s outcome. The troops are studying, improving, and implementing the combat experience gained.

Thus, Russia will become an adversary with a larger number of troops possessing real skills and clear intentions, the general asserted. This will make the country a genuine threat to NATO.

Russian forces will be stationed at the borders of NATO countries, and they will be commanded by individuals who already perceive NATO as enemies, Cavoli warned.
