First innovative Ovod kamikaze drones delivered to Russian Armed Forces

15.10.2024, Moscow.

Developers from the Tula region, with the support of the public movement People’s Front, delivered around 4,000 innovative Ovod unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to Russian troops in the special military operation zone, TASS wrote on October 15.

The innovations implemented in the drone allow it to autonomously lock onto contrasting pixels and collide with the target using a special algorithm.

“It works as follows: when the operator sees the target through the goggles, they press a button on the control panel, and after that, the aircraft flies autonomously to the target. It is unaffected by external electronic countermeasures and radio signal interruptions. This way, the combat mission is accomplished more efficiently,” one of the developers commented the Ovod UAV.

The Ovod kamikaze drone also has a self-destruct system and multi-level protection necessary for arming its warhead.
