France announces timeline for delivery of fighters with new weaponry to Kiev

08.10.2024, Paris.

France will deliver Mirage 2000 fighters equipped with new missiles to Kiev in early 2025, the French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu stated on October 8 on the social network X.

“The deliveries of Mirage 2000 fighters to Ukraine are scheduled for the first quarter of 2025,” the minister wrote.

He noted that the aircraft will be equipped with new air-to-ground missiles and electronic warfare systems. Lecornu also mentioned that Paris continues to train Ukrainian mechanics and pilots.

Earlier, in early June, French President Emmanuel Macron announced plans to supply Kiev with Mirage 2000-5 fighters, promising to begin deliveries by the end of the year.

According to the publication Valeurs Actuelles, the French Air Force has 26 of these fighters in service. They can supply up to six aircraft without compromising their own combat readiness.
