Sudzha is not under the control of the Ukrainian armed units, the town’s mayor Vitaly Slashchev told TASS on August 9.
“Evacuation is underway, Sudzha is ours. That’s all,” the mayor said in response to a request to comment on photos of Ukrainian militants allegedly in the background of houses in the town.
RT journalists also reached the mayor, who confirmed that the evacuation continues despite the shelling. He added that communication in the town is unstable, but citizens are calling the authorities with requests for help.
