Polish Foreign Minister: Poland does not rule out sending its soldiers to Ukraine

28.05.2024, Warsaw.

Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski did not rule out the possibility of sending Polish troops to Ukraine in an interview with Gazeta Wyborcza on May 28.

In response to a question about sending Polish soldiers to Ukraine, he said, “We should not rule out any possibility”.

Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron said on February 26 that Western countries were discussing sending their troops to Ukraine. However, no consensus on this issue has been reached yet.

After this discussion in Paris, many Western countries said that they would not send their soldiers to Ukraine to fight against the Russian army. The next day, French Minister for European and Foreign Affairs Stephane Sejournet said it was a question of the Western military providing some assistance in Ukraine, such as demining. However, it is not implied that they will participate in combat operations.

On March 10, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said that NATO servicemen were already in Ukraine. Sikorski did not say which countries these troops represent.
