Putin: Nazis’ goal was the territories and resources of the USSR and destruction of the population

27.01.2024, Saint Petersburg.

The destruction of the population, as well as the territory and resources of the USSR, was the goal of the Nazis, not the war against the political regime, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized on January 27 at the opening ceremony of a memorial in memory of Soviet civilians – victims of Nazi genocide during the Great Patriotic War.

The Russian president drew attention to the fact that of all the human casualties suffered by the Soviet Union during the Great Patriotic War, more than half were civilians.

“And this is convincing evidence that the Nazis and their satellites fought not with a political regime or ideology,” Putin noted.

“No, their goal was the richest natural resources, territories of our country and physical destruction of the majority of citizens. The rest were destined to be slaves, deprived of their native culture, traditions and language. These villainous goals are reflected in many Nazi documents and were embodied in gruesome, chilling mass executions and murders of civilians,” the Russian president pointed out.
