Russian and Chinese ships traveling through the Red Sea are in no danger, Mohammed al-Bahiti, a member of the political bureau of Yemen’s Houthi movement Ansar Allah, told Izvestia on January 19.

The Houthis are ready to provide security for Russian and Chinese ships in the Red Sea, al-Bahiti said. He emphasized that free navigation in the region is important for the Houthis.

The Yemeni Houthis began to attack Israeli ships in the Red Sea after the outbreak of hostilities in the Gaza Strip.

On the night of January 12, the US and UK air forces struck Houthi facilities in the provinces of Sana’a, Hodeidah, Taiz and Sa’ada in Yemen. The USA claimed to have attacked more than 60 sites using more than 100 precision-guided munitions.
