Bundestag votes against supplying Taurus missiles to Ukraine

CDU/CSU Bundestag deputies have called for Taurus cruise missiles to be provided to Ukraine but have not received support, the press service of the German parliament reported on January 17.

Before voting on delivering Taurus missiles to Ukraine, deputies discussed the annual report of the Bundestag’s defense commissioner Eva Högl for 2022. The Bundestag adopted the resolution recommended by the defense committee by the votes of all parliamentary groups.

The CDU/CSU parliamentary group then put the issue of the delivery of Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine to a vote. The CDU/CSU proposal did not receive majority support.

The CDU/CSU proposal was rejected by roll call vote: 485 votes against, 178 in favor and 3 more abstentions.
