Russia’s special military operation gives real combat experience that could not be gained in local conflicts; it will change tactics, weapons, and combat manuals, says a reconnaissance soldier with the call sign Tourist, Novgorodskie Vedomosti newspaper wrote on December 20.
Conscripted in the town of Borovichi, Pskov Oblast, he shared his thoughts on Russia’s special military operation with readers. He fights in the reconnaissance unit of a motorized rifle regiment. He was presented to the medal “For bravery”. Before the current conflict with Ukraine, the soldier took part in military conflicts.
First and foremost, he believes that this is a “war of unofficial leaders.” In this case, the main thing is experience and authority.
“Any conscripted person can already lead a group of recently recruited soldiers… And no previous merits, including combat merits, play a big role,” the soldier noted.
Turist is also sure that war is the business of the young.
“We have a machine gunner carries on himself 2400-cartridges ribbons. And constant running, even ahead of the drones, is required. And let mothers throw stones at me, but young people should fight,” he emphasized.
Tourist considers the current conflict as new for Russia, as large battles at the fronts were last fought during the Great Patriotic War. According to him, local conflicts were not fought “for real.”
“Any war is not for the good, but it not only gives us experience, we tested the armament, got rid of the old armament, tactics are rewritten. I think that we will have to adopt new combat charters as well,” the soldier noted.
According to him, this is a matter of the future. “For the moment, the ordinary men are making history,” Tourist concluded.
