Retired French General: Ukraine will not be able to conduct new offensive at the end of winter

15.12.2023, Paris.

Retired French General Jérôme Pellistrandi expressed doubts about the Ukrainian armed units’ success after a “hard winter” on December 15 on BFM TV.

“The situation on the front is complicated: the initiative belongs to Russia, and Ukrainian forces are increasingly going on the defensive,” the general said.

Pellistrandi added that the Ukrainians will not be able to attack after winter.

President Vladimir Zelensky said that Ukraine will try to succeed on the battlefield as early as this year. According to Zelensky, the Ukrainian armed units are planning to continue fighting.

Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu, in turn, said that the losses of the Ukrainian armed units for six months of the so-called counteroffensive amounted to more than 125 thousand people and more than 16 thousand units of various weapons.
