A war between the USA and China over Taiwan may not happen, but Washington has other options in store, according to a summary from the theater of war published in The Essence of Time newspaper, issue 562.
The Asia Times wrote that the USA is close to deploying long-range land-based missiles in the Pacific to deter a potential Chinese invasion of Taiwan. The publication called it a provocative move that could spark a destabilizing arms race.
At the same time, an official from the Southern Theater Command of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Combat Command said the Philippines violated peace and stability. He pointed out that the Philippines conducts joint patrols with the United States in the South China Sea.
“According to some experts, the ‘war over Taiwan’ is canceled – the shocks to the world economy are too great. The scenario of a localized conflict between China and US allies in the region, such as the Philippines, is more likely,” The Essence of Time editorial reads.
