Kremlin: Slovakia’s refusal to arm Kiev will not change the situation much

26.10.2023, Moscow.

New Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo’s refusal to supply arms to Ukraine will not have much impact on the conflict, Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said at a briefing on October 26.

“Slovakia’s share in providing Ukraine with arms was not that large,” he explained.

Peskov recalled that Western countries are the main suppliers of weapons to Kiev. He noted that continuing to supply weapons would only lead to the prolongation of the conflict.

After the parliamentary elections in Slovakia, a new government was formed. Robert Fitzo became the prime minister, who repeatedly criticized arms supplies to Ukraine.

The politician said that Slovakia would stop supplying weapons. He also stated the need for peace talks. He called Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy’s plan unrealistic and said that the USA and Russia should negotiate directly.
