The Russian government took several measures to increase artillery production at defense industrial enterprises, including allowing them to use reserve capacities for this purpose, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said at a meeting on October 17.
“The Russian government has granted the defense industry the right to use all reserves, including mobilization capacities,” he said.
Shoigu added that the Russian Defense Ministry is simplifying the contracting procedure for defense industry plants, reducing the scope of testing, and lowering requirements for components used for production. The minister emphasized that this should not affect the quality of the final products.
The head of the Defense Ministry noted the importance of the fact that during Russia’s special operation, it is necessary to quickly replenish spent ammunition stocks. He stated the need to increase the production of artillery rounds and multiple rocket launcher missiles, as well as to reduce to a minimum the terms of their delivery to the army.
