The US elite has failed to completely destroy the Russian spirit, this is where it made a mistake, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, philosopher and political scientist Sergey Kurginyan said on September 8 on the program Conversation with a Sage of the Zvezda radio station.
The political scientist believes that the US elite is afraid that Russia can go beyond the way of life that it was forced to adopt.
“They believed that this way of life would destroy 100% of the Russian spirit. 100% of it. Surprisingly, this was a mistake. They used 10 times more force than it would normally need to destroy the Russian spirit, but still it has not been destroyed. There is something mysteriously persistent in the Russian soul. There is, indeed. This is what they failed to calculate,” Kurginyan said.
He noted that their failure to calculate this determined the situation, because the US elites thought that the Russians would quickly give up, and now they have to think about what has happened. However, according to the political scientist, we cannot say that the way of life and everything around it had no effect on our population.
Kurginyan noted that inside the Russian society there are quite serious groups that dominate in neither electoral nor another aspect but maintain stable position, and which are completely oriented to the American values.
“And we really see certain excesses taking place. When certain people speak out this way, the reaction is ‘Oh my God, what kind of citizens are they? It is terrible!’ Excuse me, these citizens were appointed as directors of institutes. Were not it our authorities who appointed them? Did not they say quite recently, say six years ago, in our privileged universities that anyone involved in political science had to start every their thesis with a phrase ‘Russia will never be a great power again?’” Kurginyan said.
Kurginyan believes that this segment of our society is underestimated; it keeps a low profile, it does not show off, but it exists. And this is not the fifth column, it is something worse.
“Also, there are people who have accepted the new rules of the game and who follow them. They cannot be distinguished among ‘turbo-patriots.’ But they hate to death all this from inside. To death! This exists, too. Why does it exist? Because it was cultivated over 30 years,” the political scientist said.
Besides, according to Kurginyan, it is astonishing that our current situation is not reduced to this, and that our heroic guys are fighting now, and better than expected. Some part of our society clearly changes its attitudes, and another part just rightfully believes that this is an existential war.
“But this is not all of our society. This is not the entire society. Call me an alarmist, but we should better somewhat overestimate something than underestimate it… Over 30 years, the Western machine acquired deep agents that we still cannot even see as they have not been activated yet, and certain lobbies, and many other things. And a completely new system of existence was built,” the political scientist concluded.
