The Russian tactical vest “Obereg” showed enhanced protection properties, by stopping a powerful rifle bullet of the sniper cartridge 8.6 by 70 mm Lapua Magnum during tests at the testing ground, the press service of the state corporation Rostec informed on October 2.
It is noted that the protective properties of the Obereg body armor supplied to the special military operation zone exceeded the level for which it was designed, while the trophy US vest failed to withstand a bullet from a Kalashnikov assault rifle.
Of the three tested body armor vests with the same Br5 protection class, only the domestically produced vest withstood the impact of all ammunition. At the same time, the US vest, as well as a cheap one available on the market, failed to cope with this task.
The price of the Obereg tactical vest ($153) is almost twice as low as the US model, which failed to withstand a bullet from a Kalashnikov assault rifle.
