An explosion at a fuel depot in Nagorno-Karabakh killed 68 people and injured 290, Nagorno-Karabakh Human Rights Commissioner Gegham Stepanyan wrote on his social media page on September 26.
“As of 10:00 p.m. on September 26, 68 deaths have been confirmed as a result of an explosion at a fuel depot. The identities of 21 killed persons have been established. 290 people were injured,” Stepanyan wrote.
On September 25, a fuel tanker exploded on the Stepanakert-Askeran highway. The warehouse was organized to give gasoline to people who were leaving Nagorno-Karabakh for Armenia. As a result, there were up to several hundred people at the fueling station at the time of the explosion.
