Georgian criminals hiding in Ukraine plan riots and a coup and hold high positions there, Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili told reporters on September 18.
Georgia’s State Security Service (SUS) made a statement on September 18 that riots and a coup d’état are planned in Georgia in the fall if the European Union refuses to grant Georgia candidate status. Giorgi Lortkipanidze, a former deputy head of the Georgian Interior Ministry and an associate of Mikheil Saakashvili, who now serves as deputy head of Ukraine’s military intelligence, was named as one of the organizers of the plan.
“Ukraine has become a haven for Georgian criminals in high positions… Is there anything more shameful than this?” Papuashvili commented on the results of the Georgian SUS investigation.
He recalled that a criminal case was opened against Lortkipanidze in Georgia for his participation in the organization in September 2021 of an illegal border crossing of Georgia by Mikheil Saakashvili, “the sole purpose of which was to shake Georgia, including bringing the situation to bloodshed.”
Earlier, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said that the Ukrainian authorities had not commented in any way on the evidence of Lortkipanidze’s involvement in sending Saakashvili from Ukraine to Georgia provided by the Georgian authorities.
“A high-ranking official of Ukraine’s intelligence service is arranging a riot here… What could be more scandalous? It is important that, on the one hand, the SUS warned the public about it, provided information in advance, and on the other hand – we have already once again seen the investigation materials on Lortkipanidze, who was exposed for the second time in organizing conspiracies against Georgia,” the Chairman of the Georgian Parliament added.
The statement of the Georgian Security Service included the names of other organizers of the coup – former member of the third president’s guard Mikhail Baturin, as well as a member of Saakashvili’s inner circle, commander of the Georgian Legion operating in Ukraine Mamuka Mamulashvili. All of them have already denied the information released by the Georgian security services.
