Kurginyan: At the moment, Russia cannot give the Transcaucasus the attention they deserve

01.08.2023, Moscow.

Russia, under the current circumstances, cannot fully pay attention to what is happening in the Transcaucasus, said philosopher, political scientist, the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergei Kurginyan on July 25 in the new edition of the author’s program Destiny.

In July, Ali Akbar Velayati, a high-ranking Iranian politician, an adviser to Iran’s supreme leader on international relations, had called on the Russian elites to pay attention to what is happening in the Transcaucasus, recalled Kurginyan. According to the Iranian politician, what’s taking place there is catastrophic, and any slight negligence in policy in this region will lead to the situation when Iran’s and Russia’s enemies will definitely use it for an attack.

Iran warns Russia about the risk of rising tensions in the Caucasus.

“At the current stage, we cannot pay full attention to what is happening in the Transcaucasus, despite the catastrophic nature of these processes. We can only weakly maneuver, because we already have one theater of military operations where there is a lot happening,” said Kurginyan.

According to the political scientist, if Russia has a second front, then the country would collapse, considering the current shape it is in. He highly praised the efforts of Russian diplomats for maneuvering in our relations with Turkey, where they managed to avoid the situation sliding into a fierce military confrontation.
