The USSR could be recreated on new principles similar to those of the European Union, former Chairman of the USSR Council of Ministers Nikolay Ryzhkov said, RIA Novosti reported on December 19.
According to him, one cannot recreate the USSR as it used to be. But one can try to recreate it on the principles similar to those of the European Union, “where there is a basis – the European Council and its bodies.”
“I believe that a union of states in the post-Soviet space could be created again under new conditions based on the EU principle,” Ryzhkov said.
The former format of the USSR should not be copied. The state is a living organism, which develops, grows old and gets sick. Therefore, you can’t recreate the Soviet Union “in the image and likeness of 1922.” Everything must develop, he added.
December 30 marks the 100th anniversary of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
