Russian diplomat warns the West about the consequences of the transfer of uranium-containing shells to Ukraine

26.01.2023, Vienna.

Moscow will consider the fact of transferring uranium-containing shells to Kiev as the use of dirty bombs, head of the Russian delegation Konstantin Gavrilov said on January 25 at the OSCE forum on military security and arms control in Vienna.

“We warn Western sponsors of the Kiev war machine against encouraging nuclear provocations and blackmail,” he said.

According to Gavrilov, Leopard 2 tanks, Bradley BMPs and Marder can use sub-caliber armor-piercing shells with uranium cores. All this could lead to contamination of the terrain, which has already happened in Yugoslavia and Iraq.

“In case Kiev is supplied with such shells for NATO heavy military equipment, we will consider this to be the use of dirty nuclear bombs against Russia with all the consequences that follow,” the Russian representative explained.

Gavrilov stressed that Western countries forced Germany to provide Ukraine with armored vehicles by blackmailing it with international isolation. This is how the US State Department spokesman Ned Price ensured a manifestation of transatlantic “solidarity,” while announcing the appearance of the German “beast” in Kiev’s hands.

Thus, according to Gavrilov, Berlin made its conscious choice to have “German tanks with crosses on their armor go back to attacking Russian soldiers. However, the Russian army will destroy these fighting vehicles, as well as other NATO weapons.”

The German government has confirmed the transfer of Leopard 2 tanks to the Ukrainian armed units. Kiev will receive 14 combat vehicles, and the Ukrainian armed forces will receive a total of two battalions from Germany later.
